Hospital Parking Structure Crisis Solved with Precast!
Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk CT is breaking ground on its Vision 2015 plan that will take the hospital into the future with state-of-the-art ambulatory care pavilion and new parking garage.
While the 35 year old existing garage is being torn down, Blakeslee Prestressed, Inc., Branford, CT is casting the 602 pieces needed for the new facility and erection will begin in July 2011. The new garage will have 628 spaces and use thin brick wall panels on the exterior to coordinate with the existing buildings. The new design will include elevator access at each level making it easier and safer for patients and visitors and the garage itself will improve traffic flow at the hospital.
Valet parking and off-site parking will be provided while the new garage is being erected. This project from demolition of the old garage to the finish of the new one is expected to take only 14 months, and is the first stage of the Norwalk Hospitals vision for the future.
